How can we teach our students the value in being present in the moment? How can we teach students tools they can use to regain focus and eliminate distractions? One of the ways that we can help students learn to be in the present moment is through belly breath and other breathing techniques. In this lesson for elementary students, designed by BalancedED Learning, students use the teaching strategy Readers’ Theater and role play in order to explore the questions "Have you ever had trouble completing a task? Do you struggle with keeping your mind focused? Does your mind wander from one thought to another?" The lesson uses the story of The Three Little Pigs in order to explore the answers to these questions and learn how to use belly breathing to stay present.
