Press Release: Science & History Lesson Plans for Teachers With Printables & Slideshows Now on Teachervision.com

New "DK Instant Expert" Includes Online Access to Award-Winning Reference Materials, Compelling Images, Interactive Presentations

Boston, MA – March 1, 2011 – Teachers and students around the world will become "instant experts" on science and social studies topics with TeacherVision's ready-to-use mini-lessons, based on materials from the award-winning DK reference series. Each "DK Instant Expert" is accompanied by 15-minute mini-lesson plans for teachers, featuring the books' compelling images, to help teachers motivate students and pique their interest in topics ranging from mammals to rocks and minerals.

The Internet's most popular teacher site's "DK Instant Expert" series is designed to help teachers "bone-up" on a topic by providing them with online access to DK books. They can turn the pages virtually and quickly scan to see if there are areas they need to read before they teach a particular subject. Featuring new topics each month, TeacherVision's "DK Instant Expert" lesson plans for teachers are designed to be projected on an interactive whiteboard or from a projector and can also be printed and handed out to students.

"In many ways, teachers have to be walking encyclopedias for their students, with deep knowledge on topics in science and social studies in particular. Our new 'DK Instant Expert' offers them a quick infusion of the information they need to present a compelling lesson to their students, giving them a 'ta da' moment in front of their class," said Jess M. Brallier, publisher, TeacherVision®." Then the students can become stars themselves when they discover new information with the classroom-ready materials that TeacherVision® provides for each topic."

For example, when it's time to teach students at the elementary or intermediate level about birds, teachers can quickly and easily access the "DK Instant Expert" on the topic and discover numerous reference books, plus bird lesson plans on "Bird Beaks" or "Building Nests" and present a visually engaging, information-packed learning opportunity to their students.

Or, if weather is the topic, students will think their teachers are real-life meteorologists when they incorporate their lessons with "DK Instant Expert" resources. First, teachers can study weather information with popular DK reference books, such as "Eyewitness: Weather" and the "DK Guide to Weather." Then everyone in the class can put on their meteorologists' hat with weather lesson plans, such as "Nature's Weather Clues," which teaches how weather is forecasted, or "The Restless Air," which helps students learn more about wind as an important weather property.

Students love learning about volcanoes, and teachers can prepare an explosive lesson with the volcano lesson plans in "DK Instant Expert." When projected on an interactive whiteboard, the slide show in the "Exploding Mountains" lesson demonstrates the volatile power of a volcanic eruption, and the "Hot Rocks" lesson shows students the different kinds of lava that flow from active volcanoes.
