How to Use a Persuasive Rubric
- Persuasive Essay Rubric I focuses on audience appeal and can be used to help shape
any persuasive essay but is particularly useful for those that will be
judged in events, sent to contests, or entered for publication purposes.
- Students must expound on the creative aspect of their papers, concentrating on the stylistic devices used for effect.
- This rubric also asks student authors to concentrate on the appeal of their introduction and conclusions, forcing students to explain their attention-getting techniques.
- Finally, students must prove that they have proofread for various mechanical errors, such as run-ons and fragments.
- Persuasive Essay Rubric II is less
detailed and concentrates on organization and mechanics.
- Students must list transition words, main ideas, and supporting details in an effort to prove their understanding of the basic structure of the essay.
- This rubric also requires the inclusion of figurative language/descriptive passages as one method of elaboration.
- Once again, students must focus on correct sentence structure, detailing their effort to rid their papers of run-ons and fragments.
