Dear Teacher,
There are few things that excite kids more than Halloween. Horror films, jack-o'-lanterns, pounds of candy – what's not to love? Take advantage of your students' affinity for this October holiday by integrating the theme of Halloween into your lesson plans. We have spooky story-starters, "gross" recipes, word games.... And that's only the beginning!
October is Diversity Awareness Month. Encourage your students to create an accepting classroom environment, with our resources on civil and human rights, an introduction to religious diversity, and a lesson plan on immigrants' experiences. They can also create a colorful flag to represent themselves, including all of their unique and interesting qualities.
Computer Learning Month also falls in October. Your students may have more technology experience than even you do, but make sure they perfect the skills that will help them excel in school, such as familiarization with PowerPoint, word processors, and Internet citation.
Also in this issue: Create a safe classroom environment with our resources for School Safety Month, celebrated in October. And if you are holding parent-teacher conferences soon, prepare yourself – and parents – with our help.
Best Wishes, The Editors of TeacherVision.com
