Some people refer to mountain peaks as the roof of the world.

1. Use the Internet (or reference books) to learn about the mountains of South America. You will need to find the heights of a variety of mountain peeks.

2.Answer the questions below about the heights of these mountains:

  • How many feet higher is Ojos del Salado than Sajama?

  • If you climbed Mount Usborne and Mount Roraima, how many feet would you have climbed?

  • What is the difference in feet between the highest and lowest summit?


3. Record the names and heights of three summits.



4. Use the facts you recorded to write an addition word problem.



5. Use the facts you recorded to write a subtraction word problem.



6. Write one more word problem. This time write one that requires both addition and subtraction.
