Flower Garden Costume

Time: 30 minutes

Effort: Quick and easy – no sewing required

Materials:

  • Large cardboard box
  • Pencil
  • Colored construction paper
  • Nontoxic glue
  • Stapler/staples
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Thick ribbon – 2 feet long
  • Watering can
  • Scissors

Instructions: Cut off all the box flaps, leaving the top and bottom of the box open. Cut points around the top of the box to make it look like a picket fence.

Draw flowers and leaves on the construction paper, cut them out, glue them onto the pipe cleaners, and staple them onto the box.

Cut grass out of green construction paper and staple it along the bottom of the box. Staple two pieces of the thick ribbon to the top of the box, so the garden can hang from your child's shoulders. Put a paper butterfly in your child's hair.

Top off the ensemble by giving your child the watering can to carry.

Other details: Have your child wear a black or dark-colored sweat suit, so the fence and flowers can be seen easily.
