The Kentucky Board of Education will meet Wednesday and Thursday, December 10 and 11, in the State Board Room of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort.  A live Webcast of the meeting will be available here both days of the meeting. See press release for more information.

The Lincoln Bicentennial Teacher Network has created lessons/units for P-12 aligned to Kentucky standards.  The lessons, along with support materials, were created to commemorate the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln and focus on his many contributions to America and the world.  Additional information on the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial can be found here.

The Kentucky System of Intervention (KSI) is a framework for providing systematic, comprehensive services to address academic and behavioral needs for all students, preschool through grade 12. The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has developed this guidance document to provide resources in planning and decision making as districts and schools develop a system of intervention to meet the needs of all students.

Kentucky Education Issues
Kentucky Education Issues, a television program hosted by Education Commissioner Jon E. Draud, features lively discussion with leading educators and policy makers concerning topics important to students, teachers and taxpayers. See Program #19 here.

2009 Kentucky Schools of Character Awards
Every year, the Character Education Partnership (CEP) names approximately 10 public and private schools and districts (K-12) as National Schools of Character (NSOC) for their outstanding work in character education.  The awards program honors these exemplars, showcases their work, and facilitates their leadership in the field of character education.  Application guidelines may be downloaded at www.charactercincinnati.org.  Applications must be submitted by December 8, 2008.  For more information, please contact the Character Council of Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky at 513-467-0170. Draud Outlines Kentucky's Progress in P-12 Education
Kentucky Education Commissioner Jon E. Draud says that, although Kentucky faces many obstacles in the struggle to raise academic achievement for its public school students, the state has made remarkable progress in the nearly 20 years since the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) was passed.  See press release for more information.
