April 2007, Volume 2

Dear Teacher,

Memorial Day is approaching (May 28). This would be a great time to introduce your students to issues of war and the military. With many American soldiers still in Iraq, taking the time to commemorate fallen soldiers may help your students better understand global issues.

Physical Fitness and Sports Month is celebrated in May. You can encourage your students to combat the national trend of low physical activity by teaching them the rules for old-fashioned sports. Spend some time playing games outside this spring!

May has been designated Asian-Pacific-American Heritage month. You might want to discuss the topic of immigration with your students. The various cultures brought together in America make our country unique.

Best Wishes,
From the Editors of TeacherVision.com
