  • Writing the script for a scene:

    • Pick ONE of the major events from the chapter and turn it into a scene that you can act out in front of the class. Read the following example of a conversation from the book turned into a script. Notice the following:
      • the name of the character is on the far left, followed by a colon.
      • the lines the character says are to the right.
      • physical actions to be carried out by the character are written between parentheses and in italics. This means the words should not be said aloud.
      • scenery is described aloud by the characters so the audience can imagine where they are.

        Chapter Seven, page 82
        Characters: Hermione, Ron, and Harry

        Ron:

Can you believe how many people are here for the Quidditch World Cup?

        Hermione:

Look at all of those tents!

        Harry:

Everything is green! There are shamrocks everywhere. I suppose there's no need to guess who they're hoping will win the world cup!

        Hermione:

        (sniffing haughtily through her nose)
Well, of course not! They're obviously rooting for the Irish!
