No proprietary software was used during the making of this book. It was typeset from XML-DocBook master files created with GNU Emacs and psgml. Postcript generation was performed under Red Hat Linux using Tim Waugh's xmlto, Norman Walsh's XSL stylesheets, Daniel Veillard's xsltproc, Sebastian Rahtz's PassiveTeX macros, the TeTeX distribution of Donald Knuth's TeX typesetter, and Thomas Rokicki's dvips postprocessor. Illustrations were scanned using xsane driving an Epson 1250 scanner, then touched up with gimp.
