Inspire students to get real and code their own Snapchat filters

This Hour of Code lesson from Vidcode is a fun and challenging tutorial that enables student to write the code to build their own filters for Snapchat. Reinforcing the big idea that code is behind many things we use in everyday life, the lesson includes a 35-minute coding challenge, a 5-minute reflective practice component (written or sharing), and an opportunity for students to share what they've created with others. Kids will learn how to code functions, objects, methods, and properties.

The lesson maps to Common Core and CSTA standards and focuses on real-world application of programming skills. Designed for in-class and collaborative work, the reflective practice piece can be assigned as take-home or independent work.
