Press Release: Science Fair Projects, Lesson Plans & Experiments by Grade Level & Subject on TeacherVision.com
Students Build Understanding of the World of Science, Learn the Scientific Process With Engaging Activities From Popular Teacher Site
Boston, MA – Feb. 9, 2010 – Spring is the season when millions of K–12 students around the country participate in science fairs. For science project ideas and lessons to support science education throughout the school year, teachers can turn to the Internet's popular teacher site, TeacherVision.com.
"Whether it is planting seeds and tracking germinations or building a small engine, science experiments play an important role in helping students develop an understanding of the scientific process and how the world around them works," said Jess M. Brallier, publisher, TeacherVision®. "TeacherVision® offers hands-on project ideas for all grade levels that teachers can use to support their science curriculum or to suggest to students for their science fair projects."
For grades 3–6, teachers will find the popular "Build Your Own Volcano" activity on TeacherVision®. This visually engaging chemistry experiment for young learners will help them have some outdoor fun while they begin to understand how different substances react when they are mixed together.
The comprehensive lesson plan "In Which Liquids Do Seeds Grow Best?" is designed to allow students in grades 5–7 to use the scientific process to examine the various ways that the horticultural environment affects seed germination and growth. The lesson walks through the entire process, from setting up the experiment to recording and analyzing the resulting data. Or they can explore the properties of different solutions with the chemistry experiment "Salt or Sugar: Which Dissolves Faster in Different Liquids?" which also teaches the scientific process while helping students think about the variables that will affect the results of their experiment.
Another fun chemistry project featured on TeacherVision® is "What Substance Melts Ice Fastest?" In this experiment, students in grades 5–7 test a variety of products to see which one works best to melt ice.
With the experiment "Does It Matter How Much Air Is in Your Basketball?" middle school students can explore the properties of gravity while practicing their dribbling skills. The experiment "Which Foods Do Molds Love Best?" helps students understand where the green stuff on their bread came from and what conditions helped to create it.
Science lesson plans and projects are among the many high-quality resources and classroom tools that are added to TeacherVision® each week.
