Grade Levels: 3 - 5

Objectives

  • Students will create an"Amazing Animal" quiz.
  • Students will do research for their quiz both online and offline.

Materials

  • Amazing Animal Facts printout
  • Construction paper, scissors, tape or glue
  • Collection of animal fact books

Procedures

  1. Students create a question and answer display about animals. Their report will be done on paper. Each child should identify one amazing animal fact. The following sites are wonderful sources for finding animal photos and unusual facts, listening to animal sounds, and watching short videos: Zoo in the Wild , Animal Bytes , and Oakland Zoo Animals A-Z .
  2. Have children create questions to match their interesting facts. Distribute the Amazing Animal Facts printout. Students can write their questions and answers or dictate them to an adult.
  3. Provide construction paper flaps cut to cover the Answer area. Show students how to tape or glue the top of the flap to the printout.
  4. Have students draw or print out a photo of their featured animal. Mount the picture next to the matching Amazing Animal Fact sheet. Display the class' Amazing Animal Quiz in the hall for school mates to enjoy.
